Live edge Eastern Red Cedar (Juniper) Charcuterie Display Board. This one is thicker than most Charcuterie boards you find, at about 2 3/4” thick. It’s 13 3/4” long and 7 3/4” wide. This beautiful piece of wood was air dried on the log for over a year, but will most likely show some additional movement and darkening in the wood over time, as is natural. Juniper, or Eastern Red Cedar, differs from other cedars in that it is more comparable in hardness to a Cherry or Walnut, at 900 on the Janka scale. Don’t be afraid of using this like a cutting board. The inevitable marks and splits that will show up over time add an additional element of individual character and beauty to this already unique display board. Finished with multiple coats of a proprietary food-safe mineral oil and beeswax finish that can be reapplied as needed to protect and rejuvenate the wood over time.
